Ballet Ireland Review
I attended the Ballet Ireland Summer Intensive in Dublin. I was taught by incredible teachers who focused on ballet technique, pointe work, ballet and contemporary repertoire, and dance based pilates to help with strengthening and turnout. The classes were taught by Amelia O’Hara, Stephen Brennen and Deirdre McKenna.
Stephen taught us the ballet repertoire, we learned a piece from George Balanchine’s ‘Symphony in C’. For the contemporary repertoire Amelia taught us the chair section from Ohad Naharin’s ‘Minus 16’.
At the intensive course I was also lucky enough to do pas de deux work with some of the members of the Ballet Ireland Professional Company. This was very exciting as it was something I had never done before and I was excited to learn how to dance with a partner. My partner Marc Comellas was very helpful in teaching me techniques that would help the partnership.
The week very enjoyable as it pushed me as a dancer. Thank you Ballet Ireland for an amazing week I had a great time and it was an experience that I will cherish.
