Contemporary Dance, stems from the core ( torso ) of the body and uses elements of contract, release, spiral, floor work, fall and recovery and improvisation. Always changing and ever evolving, contemporary dance techniques encourage the dancer to work with creative freedom and artistic expression. This evolving dance style, which has its roots in the 20th century, is one of the most dominant genres for dancers throughout the world.

At CSD we follow the ISTD Contemporary dance syllabus at Intermediate Foundation and Intermediate levels along with non-syllabus work taught by our contemporary trained dancers and teachers.
