Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet training that focuses on the dancers training in pointe shoes where a ballet dancer supports all their body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within the pointe shoe. Extensive training and practise are required to develop the strength and technique needed for pointe work. Dance teachers consider several factors such as age, strength, experience and foot and leg alignment before considering whether the students is ready for pointe work. At CSD we carefully monitor the students progression from the junior grades to the senior grades before considering the students’ ability to start training in pointe shoes.
